Department of Molecular Biology
Molecular Biology Department was established in 1982. Within the undergraduate program of Biology Department, courses such as Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics, Introduction to Genetic Engineering, Immunology, Cancer Biology, Bioinformatics are given. While teaching staff continue their studies in different fields, they assist students in their theoretical and practical education. Our students find the chance to put the knowledge they have learned in theoretical lessons into practice by working in student laboratories and research projects of teaching staff.
Molecular Biology Department has master's and doctorate programs. Within the scope of the master's and doctoral program, courses and researches are conducted in different areas such as advanced cell biology, experimental animal manipulation techniques, cell tissue culture, mutagenes and genetic mutations, cell damage, cancer genetics and biology, cytoskeleton. After graduate and doctorate education, students graduate fully equipped in terms of both theoretical and practical applications. During the education process, they gain the experience of literature review, ability to design experiments, scientific thinking and ability to solve problems. Students are accepted to master's and doctorate programs each semester.
There are three laboratories within the Department of Molecular Biology: Molecular Biology Research Laboratory, Toxicology Laboratory and Cell Culture Research Laboratory.
There are three laboratories within the Department of Molecular Biology: Molecular Biology Research Laboratory, Toxicology Laboratory and Cell Culture Research Laboratory.
Department of study subjects: Molecular Biology Department has made important studies in molecular biology and genetics since its establishment. Among the recent studies; In rats, studies of ischemia / reperfusion injury at the proteomic and genomic level and accordingly histopathological examinations, molecular mechanism of regeneration, apoptosis, cancer biology, cytotoxicity, animal cell culture, polymorphism studies and mutagenic-antimutagenic potentials of chemicals are carried out.
